GoChinese

Write Chinese, stroke by stroke.

Trace a character, then write it on your own — every stroke graded as you draw it, in the correct order, from HSK 1 to 6. A panda with a brush keeps you company.

Per-stroke grading · correct stroke order from the first character · a notebook of every character you’ve written.

What it does

Every stroke, checked as you write it.

GoChinese moves characters out of recognition and into your hand, in the order a native writer would use.

Why GoChinese

You can read it. Your hand can’t write it.

Recognising a character and producing it from memory are two different skills, and only one of them comes from tapping. In most Chinese apps handwriting is one bullet in a long list. In GoChinese it is the whole app: ten characters a day, written in the right order, until your hand remembers them.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Do I need an account?

No. GoChinese opens straight into practice, and your progress stays on your device.

Is GoChinese free?

Free to download and free to practise every day: five characters of writing, plus one round each of the quiz, pinyin typing and sentence writing. The free version shows ads. Pro removes the ads and the daily limits, unlocks HSK 4–6 and exports PDF workbooks, monthly or yearly — the app shows the price in your local currency before you buy.

Is GoChinese the same app as Xie Chinese?

Yes. GoChinese is the new name and design of Xie Chinese. If you already have Xie Chinese, it updates to GoChinese and keeps your progress and your Pro subscription.

Which devices does it work on?

GoChinese is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and on Google Play for Android phones and tablets. In English and Vietnamese.
